Different landscapes support us in different ways.
What kind of medicine do you need right now?
Mountains cultivate perspective. Deserts invite simplicity. Water reminds us to keep moving. Open spaces create room to grow. Forests show us that resilence is relational. Dark skies reconnect us with wonder, rest, and our place within something much larger than ourselves.
Join us for a six-week guided learning journey exploring how different landscapes shape our well-being through ecology, emerging nature and health research, stewardship, and reflective practice. Together, we’ll discover not only what each landscape has to teach us, but how to build relationships with these places that continue supporting us long after we leave the trail.
What if the landscape you’ve been craving isn’t a vacation, what if it’s a teacher?
For thousands of years, people have turned to mountains for perspective, rivers for renewal, forests for belonging, deserts for clarity, open spaces for possibility, and dark skies for wonder. Long before these experiences were studied in research laboratories, they were woven into stories, ceremonies, traditions, and everyday life.
Today, a growing body of evidence is helping explain what many people have felt intuitively all along: time in nature supports our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Yet nature is not one-size-fits-all.
Different landscapes invite different experiences.
Different landscapes ask different questions.
Different landscapes offer different medicines.
Through Different Landscapes, Different Medicines, we’ll explore six distinct landscapes as teachers, learning how their ecology can help us cultivate resilience, perspective, creativity, belonging, emotional regulation, rest, and wonder. Rather than simply spending time outside, we’ll learn how to build lasting relationships with the places that help us remember who we are.
This isn’t about escaping everyday life. It’s about bringing the wisdom of these landscapes home with us.
Is This For You?
You don’t need to be an experienced backpacker. You don’t need to live near mountains. You don’t even need to consider yourself “outdoorsy.” This journey is for anyone who is curious about the relationship between nature and well-being and wants practical ways to deepen that relationship in everyday life.
You may especially enjoy this program if you are:
Looking for sustainable ways to reduce stress and prevent burnout.
Curious about the science of nature connection.
Longing to spend more meaningful time outdoors.
Navigating a life transition or searching for perspective.
Working in healthcare, conservation, education, parks, nonprofits, or community leadership.
Interested in building a lifelong relationship with the natural world rather beyond visiting it.
Over six weeks, we’ll explore…
